OUR MISSION

Synergy Universe is a group of companies that helps businesses, communities and non-profits raise grants from funders in any country, and helps funders place their money well. The group secured its first grant in 2004 in Kyiv and today works from five cities: Kyiv, Zürich, London, Warsaw and Toronto. Four divisions and a partner association cover the full funding cycle, from training and standards to grant writing, due diligence and reporting. To date we have completed 61 projects in 9 countries and helped secure €40.5 million for our clients' work.

Ukraine · Kyiv (headquarters, since 2004)

Kyiv is where the group was founded and where our own team is based. From here Synergy Development Consulting helps businesses, communities and NGOs find funds and grants for their projects in any country, prepare for due diligence and write applications to international standards. Monitoring visits, partner checks and local due diligence in Ukraine are carried out by our own team, not subcontracted. Synergy AI Funding Club holds events in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Cherkasy and Uzhhorod.

Switzerland · Zürich (since 2022)

In Switzerland we act as a Swiss–Ukrainian funding bridge. Synergy Development Consulting helps organisations secure funding from foundations, public programmes and international donors, including SECO, Innosuisse and Horizon Europe, and advises Swiss and European foundations that fund work in Ukraine and Eastern Europe on partner scouting, grantee due diligence and monitoring. We work together with Development Partnership International (DPI), a Bern-based consulting company, and also organise study visits and business missions to Switzerland. Synergy AI Funding Club holds events in Zürich and Bern.

United Kingdom · London (since 2018)

Our UK work is led from London by Synergy Development Consulting Ltd. We help charities, social enterprises, local authorities and companies secure funding from trusts and foundations, public programmes and international donors, from Innovate UK and UKRI to the National Lottery Community Fund and FCDO programmes. For Ukrainian and Eastern European organisations we arrange introductions to UK trusts, foundations and partners and represent them at meetings in London; we also organise study visits and business missions to Britain.

Poland · Warsaw (since 2018)

Our Warsaw office has been part of the group since 2018. From here we work with clients in Poland and across the EU, and with organisations from Ukraine and Eastern Europe that are looking for partners and funding in the EU. We map EU funds, national and regional programmes and private foundations for each project, check eligibility early and prepare the application; we also organise study visits and business missions to Poland. Synergy AI Funding Club holds events in Warsaw.

Our divisions
Synergy Development Consulting

Our consulting division, working with both sides of the funding table. For organisations seeking funding it covers funder research, grant writing, due diligence readiness, grant management and impact reporting, a turnkey grants department and AI in grant writing; for foundations and funders it covers partner scouting in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, grantee due diligence, call design and monitoring. It works from Kyiv, Zürich, London and Warsaw, with clients in nine countries.

Synergy Academy

The group's academy for grant professions, with the aim of making grant writing a recognised profession and helping entrepreneurs and organisations attract money and resources for their projects. Its programmes include the Let's Grant course, Grant Architect 365, the AI Grant Architect, Humanitarian & SDG Grant Architect and EU Grants Architect levels, English for grants and corporate training for teams. 7,059 people have attended our trainings, and graduates have raised more than €20.2 million for their projects; the Academy also delivers training for boards, programme staff and grantees through our offices abroad.

Synergy for Action

Game-based learning that lets you understand the funding market without risk. Its main product is Funds Hunter™, a business simulation game in which players practise strategic thinking, pitching, negotiating with donors and building partnerships; it is played online and offline, with more than 100 games and 1,200 participants so far. The division also runs FUNdraiser (fundraiser.games), a free learning platform for teams turning social-enterprise ideas into projects.

Grant Standards Association (GSA): partner

GSA is an independent association that sets standards for grant management and certifies organisations' grant readiness, aligned with ESG and the Sustainable Development Goals. Synergy Universe is a co-founder and partner of GSA: we prepare clients for GSA certification and for funders' due diligence. Website: grant-standard-association.com

Synergy AI Funding Club

A community for people who work with grants: entrepreneurs, fundraisers, grant writers, NGOs, funders and consultancies. Members get monthly Synergy Brunch meetings with experts, closed Mastermind sessions, a grants digest, weekly business English speaking clubs, a monthly Funds Hunter™ game, networking and joint study trips. The Club holds offline events in Ukraine and Europe (Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Cherkasy, Uzhhorod, Vienna, Warsaw, Zürich and Bern) and runs the online conference series Bridges Beyond Borders.
